Faculty Excellence

The heart of Evergreen’s dynamic interdisciplinary experience – talented, dedicated faculty members.
They educate, mentor, and inspire our future leaders and workforce.
Your gift enables us to provide the faculty with resources to participate in professional development activities that allow them to exchange knowledge, keep abreast of changes in higher education, integrate technology and bring the fruits of their development into the classroom.

Sponsored Research
Sponsored research allows faculty to spend concentrated time on research projects.
Recent awards made it possible to establish a toxicology laboratory and perform further toxicology research related to environmental health; develop a research and service agenda to promote the psychological and spiritual health of teachers; produce computer graphic visualization tools and lesson plans that facilitate science and math learning by secondary students; and complete the second phase of a climate change project by creating a working taskforce of indigenous nation leadership, environmental scientists and Native community leaders from the Pacific Rim.

Summer Institutes
Annual summer institutes promote faculty development by offering a series of communal planning workshops designed to help faculty explore ways to weave quantitative reasoning, writing, aesthetics and arts, and other dimensions of general education directly into their programs. Topics are based on institutional priorities and faculty-initiated projects. Past summer institutes have explored instructional technology, curriculum development, student academic advising, and teaching students with learning differences.
